The Economics Explorer is an annual, online national competition in Malaysia for primary, secondary and pre-university students. It introduces key concepts in economics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and business. Through multiple-choice questions, students apply their knowledge to real-world economic and financial situations, both locally and globally.

The Economics Explorer Competition is open to students of all levels, from primary school to pre-university. There are different categories based on the students’ grade level for international schools, allowing a wide range of students to participate.

Yes, non-Malaysian students can participate in the Economics Explorer Competition. The competition is inclusive and open to all students studying in Malaysia, regardless of their nationality.

Students can participate in the Economics Explorer Competition through the following registration method:

School registration (the only method): all students must register through their school. A designated teacher will be appointed to manage and handle the registration process via contesthub.my.

Registration fees:

• Early-bird registration: RM40 per student
• Normal registration: RM45 per student

Early-bird rates are available for a limited time only. Schools are encouraged to register early to enjoy the discounted fee.

Important: all participants must register through their respective schools. The step-by-step procedure is on our Registration page.

We do not have any minimum or maximum requirements for registration, as we warmly welcome all schools to participate in our competition.

The Economics Explorer Competition provides practice papers on this website to help students prepare. See the Past Year Questions page for every published MyEO paper, and the sample questions for both categories on the home page.

The Economics Explorer Competition is conducted online via the AutoProctor system, featuring 30 objective questions. Participants are allotted 1 hour and 15 minutes to answer, with points assigned based on difficulty (easy, medium and hard).

The AutoProctor system is open from 10am to 5pm on the competition day, so students may answer at any time within that period. All participants must use a laptop, computer or tablet with a stable internet connection and a scientific calculator.

Yes. All students who participate in the Economics Explorer Competition will receive a certificate of participation.

Top-performing students will be recognised with awards categorised as Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention, based on their marks. Students will receive certificates reflecting their respective awards.

Note: no medals are provided; awards are issued in certificate form only.

If your school participated in the Economics Explorer in 2026 and you are still teaching at the same school, you do not need to create a new ContestHub account. You can use your existing account to register for the upcoming competition by logging in with the same username and password. Please remember to update your profile.

Yes. To register your students you must create a new account on ContestHub. If you register your students using your previous ContestHub account, we will assume that the students are from your previous school, and that you are still a teacher there.

For the Economics Explorer Competition, our system allows up to three teachers-in-charge to be assigned per school. If your school requires more than three, please contact our support team for assistance.

Each school is required to appoint at least one teacher-in-charge (TIC), responsible for handling registration and payment and for overseeing the competition day. The designated teacher must have a ContestHub account so that our secretariat knows you are the TIC representing your school.
