The Economics Explorer is an annual, online national competition in Malaysia for primary, secondary, and pre-university students. It introduces key concepts in economics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and business. Through multiple-choice questions, students apply their knowledge to real-world economic and financial situations, both locally and globally

Economics Explorer Competition competitions are open to students of all levels, from primary school to secondary school. There are different categories based on the students’ grade level for international schools, allowing a wide range of students to participate.

Yes, non-Malaysian students can participate in Economics Explorer Competition competitions. The competitions are inclusive and open to all students studying in Malaysia, regardless of their nationality.

Students can participate in the Economics Explorer Competition through the following registration method:

School Registration (Only Method):
All students must register through their school. A designated teacher will be appointed to manage and handle the registration process via www.contesthub.my.

Registration Fees:

  • Early Bird Registration: RM40 per student
  • Normal Registration: RM45 per student

Note: Early bird rates are available for a limited time only. Schools are encouraged to register early to enjoy the discounted fee.

Important:
All participants must register through their respective schools.

We do not have any minimum or maximum requirements for registration, as we warmly welcome all schools to participate in our competition.

The Economics Explorer Competition provides study materials and practice papers on their official website (https://myeo.my/myeo-past-year-questions/) to help students prepare.

The Economics Explorer Competition is conducted online via the Autoproctor system, featuring 30 objective questions. Participants are allotted 1 hour and 15 minutes to answer, with points assigned based on difficulty (easy, medium, and hard). The Autoproctor system activates from 10 am to 5 pm on the competition day, allowing students to answer at any time within this period. All participants must use a laptop, computer, or tablet with a stable internet connection & scientific calculator.

Yes, all students who participate in the Economics Explorer Competition will receive a certificate of participation.

Top-performing students will be recognized with awards categorized as Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honorable Mention, based on their marks. Students will receive certificates reflecting their respective awards.

Note: No medals are provided; awards are issued in certificate form only.

If your school participated in the Economics Explorer in 2026 and you are still teaching at the same school, you do NOT need to create a new ContestHub account. You can use your existing account to register for the upcoming competition by login using the same username and password. Kindly update your profile account.

To register your students, you must create a new account on ContestHub. If you register your students using a previous ContestHub account, we will assume that the students are from your previous school, and we will also assume that you are still a teacher there.

For the Economics Explorer Competition, our system allows up to three teachers-in-charge to be assigned per school. If your school requires more than three teachers, please feel free to contact our support team for assistance.

Each school is required to appoint at least one Teacher-In-Charge (TIC) responsible for handling registration, payment, and overseeing the competition day. The designated teacher must have a ContestHub account to ensure our secretary is informed that you are the TIC representing your school. To be officially recognized as the TIC, please reach out to our customer support team using the phone number provided in FAQs 16.
